Helios Apartments is a stylish and contemporary high-rise, standing proudly in the heart of downtown Seattle, just 2 blocks from Pike Place Market. Ī 16-story, 229-room hotel on the north side of the lot, facing Stewart Street, began construction in 2016 and is scheduled to be completed in February 2018. Our vision for Helios Apartments is to form an urban living experience that is unmistakably and irresistibly Seattle. Construction of the building, led by Turner Construction, began in October 2014 and was completed in 2017. The half- block property was bought by Chicago-based Equity Residential in 2012 for $22 million, and the company announced its plans for a 39-story apartment building in January 2013. The excavated hole was later filled in 2009 and paved over with a parking lot. Brenneke sold his stake in the project to Starwood in June 2008, citing the project's financial difficulties. The project broke ground in 2007 and was expected to be completed in 2009, but construction was halted in September 2007 because of the then-ongoing financial crisis, and designs were revised to eliminate over 100 proposed condominium units after only 20 of them had been sold. The proposed building would have 98 luxury condominiums and a 110-room hotel as well as four floors of retail at ground level and a luxury gym. Plans were scrapped after a new downtown zoning ordinance was approved in 2006, and a new, 23-story, $200 million mixed-use highrise named "1 Hotel & Residences" was proposed by Brenneke and Starwood Capital Group. The site at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street was originally proposed for a 240-foot-tall (73 m) residential tower developed by Paul Brenneke and planned to break ground in 2006. The five-story, 217-stall underground parking garage extends north from the tower's lot to a site that will be occupied by a 16-story hotel developed by Widewaters Group. The building also includes Zipcar parking spaces, electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle parking, low-energy appliances, and other environmentally-friendly features in a bid to earn a LEED rating. It sits atop a podium, housing 3,000 square feet (280 m 2) of retail space, with a terra-cotta facade. It is located at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Pine Street near the Pike Place Market and the city's retail core.Īrchitects Weber Thompson and GBD Architects, working on the project in a joint venture, described the tower's design as "slender and sculpted". Plans for the project were first proposed in 2013 and construction began in late 2014. The 40-story tower is 440 feet (130 m) tall with 398 luxury apartments. Helios, also known as 2nd & Pine, is a residential skyscraper in downtown Seattle, Washington.

Rather than provide you a couple of free tickets to a local game and a warm birthday phone call, Zenefits aims to provide its entire suite of services in return for the privelage of being named the broker of record (insurance broker) for the health insurance that a customer secures through the platform. The insurance brokers get paid between 2% and 10% in commissions from the insurance carriers (think Aetna, Prudential, etc). Prior to Zenefits, companies bought insurance through local insurance brokers that provided nothing more than free tickets to local sports games in return for the business. Instead it makes its money (about $450 per employee, per year) by serving as the broker of record (insurance broker) on any insurance that is bought through Zenefits. Zenefits does not charge any fees to its customers directly for its service (for the most part). Zenefits has a very unique business model. It’s core service audience is the CEO, CFO or CHRO of a small to medium sized enterprise. Today it serves nearly 200,000 employees across more than 40,000 businesses nationwide. Some of the more notable products include payroll, insurance benefits, timesheet management, employment verification, employee onboarding and compliance. It’s core service offering is online human resources management that aims to automate and outsource all of the major administrative tasks of the human resources function of small and medium sized businesses. Today the business has nearly 2,000 employees, $85mm of annualized recurring revenue and a valuation of $4.9bn. Zenefits is an online software-as-a-service (SAAS) business founded in 2013, by entrepreneurs with two laptops and a dream. Researchers noted that patients with cirrhosis had more complications compared with noncirrhotic patients (70% vs. During follow-up, the cure rate was 54.2% on day 15 and 81.3% on day 30. Nine (37.5%) patients with a positive culture received inadequate initial treatment. We aimed to evaluate the impact of timely anti-reflux treatment as guided by routine reflux testing on post-lung transplant rejection outcomes. Our patient centered approach improved the timeliness of glucose testing and mealtime insulin administration. Initial treatment was effective in 15 of 24 patients with a positive culture. A total of 34 microorganisms were isolated from patients in the study. Of these, 66.7% had one bacterium isolated 25% had two bacterium isolated and 8.3% had three bacterium isolated. Half of the study cohort had a positive culture. The most common type of infection was cellulitis 32 cases were documented and accounted for 66.7% of the study cohort, according to the study data. All patients had at least one comorbid condition and 60.4% were considered immunosuppressed. Researchers found that 87.5% of patients had community-acquired infections and 12.5% had nosocomial infections. The mean age of the patients was 51.3 years, and they were followed and evaluated on days 15 and 30. Timely testing and diagnosis may be crucial to effectively treat bacterial infections of the skin and subcutaneous tissues, according to data presented at the 2014 American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting.Įlva Cardenas, MD, of the Hospital Angeles Leon in Mexico, and colleagues collected skin biopsies or aspirates from 47 patients with bacterial infections of the skin and subcutaneous tissues in patients who presented to a tertiary care center from November 2006 to November 2007. If you continue to have this issue please contact to Healio Lower concentrations of alcohol, like rubbing alcohol (70% IPA), are a false economy when you can but the pure stuff, cheaply and reliably on line, with no added ingredients to make it smell nice or colour co-ordinate with your room decor. UK high street chemists Boots charge three times the commercial price of isopropanol, making it more costly than a good single malt whisky. High Street pharmacies are not a good source – they seem to treat anyone wanting to buy pure alcohol with suspicion, some refuse to sell it, or price it prohibitively to discourage misuse. Health warning: IPA is a poisonous alcohol, unlike its chemical relative used in some record cleaning recipes – Ethanol , though even that is treated to prevent human consumption – and avoid taxation of alcoholic beverages. One litre costs about $10, and diluted with pure distilled water, it will make five litres of record cleaning fluid, which should keep you going for a year or two. It is readily available from chemical suppliers at 99.9% purity – the highest laboratory-grade commercially available. The main active cleaning ingredient is the well known and commonly used Isopropanol, known as Isopropyl AlcohoI or lPA for short . The purpose of cleaning is to ensure naked contact between the stylus and the information encoded into the grooves, and nothing between the two, hence the use of alcohol to dissolve any surface contaminants (cigarette smoke, skin oils, mould-release, airborne matter) which are then vacuumed away. Use only the purest ingredients, purchased online from reputable chemical suppliers, and store final mix in clean glass or plastic bottle suitable for containing alcohol. So remember if you could go back in time as a kid, what you would do different, and help your kids to develop those changes. There are so many avenues these days to help kids explore the opportunities we wished we had taken advantage of. Maybe it’s a different sport, maybe it’s a cooking class that discusses clean eating, or maybe a kids class about being active. Get them involved in their interests but also have them explore new things. This is the chance to have your kids learn from those missed opportunities. Remember the things that would have helped you later in life. Theres time to adjust these.įor our kids, they’re still in the state of development and growing into habits. Something we can do is reflect on these topics and maybe there’s other things you wish you had done. We should still strive to be the healthiest versions of ourselves we can be. Now while all things can still be worked on and improved upon, we still can’t go back in time. So many things we could have done differently to better our performances or to have instilled better life long habits. Others maybe wished they had tried different training methods. Maybe if there was a place like friction then most would have had an outlet to be active and not worry about the competitiveness of sports. For some it might be trying out a new sport or just being active. These are just a few areas I wish I could go back and do differently. These are just a few of the sports I took part in and how something could have better helped my developing. Pole vaulting I would have had better control of my body and could probably have gone higher. Track stronger core to maintain running form. It would have helped in every sport I did in some way. They entire body workout leads to better coordination and understanding of your body. If these habits had been instilled at a younger age, I can’t imagine what I could have done in college rugby or how much faster I might have excelled at other exercise avenues.Īnother part in my childhood that I feel could have added to my overall well being would have been gymnastics. As a coach who has dialed in my nutrition, there are major differences on performance based on what I eat. It’s always worked for me so why change now. In my head I’ve always been active so eat whatever I want. Also, these are habits that stayed with me for a long time and took years to adjust. As a kid you don’t notice any difference but as many of us now know, there’s a huge difference in our bodies outputs based on the fuel we put in. No meatball subs before a track event or McDonalds between games on a weekend tournament. Don’t get me wrong, I had plenty of food and ate ok but as an athlete what would my on field performances have been like if I cared about nutrition. What would you do differently? Personally I wish I knew more about healthy foods. John, 21 I would probably just do more in my free time to help people who were less fortunate than myself. Benjamin Watson, 25 I would win millions by betting on matches I already know. Sure those moments we’d want to change or to relive a fun day, but I’m talking about habits we could have adopted or training we could have implied. Tom Hazlewood, 22 If I could go back in time and alter my experience, I would take a loan and buy Bitcoin. Do you ever think if I could go back in time as a kid, the things I would do differently. Badlands: Game of the Year Edition isn't going to blow people's minds the way the original mobile version did for people playing it on phones, but the satisfying mechanics and quality of craftsmanship still shine through. Working out how to get past cleverly designed obstacles and traps - even if it's sometimes simply a process of trial and error - is generally quite rewarding, and the slowly evolving story, simple though it may be, still manages to sink in a couple of hooks. It's still a great little game with a gorgeous silhouette art style and a ton of personality (the glowing-eyed animals spied in level backgrounds remain wonderfully enigmatic). Everything is optimized nicely, and the controls feel natural, but most players are used to (and probably expect) something a bit more complex when playing on a console.īut that's not to say this version of the popular side-scroller isn't challenging or fun. The levels, while redesigned for consoles, are very short for a couch game, and the controls are a smidgeon too simplistic - even with the added ability to use a control stick to control speed and direction rather than simply tap to control lift. BADLAND: Game of the Year Edition brings BADLAND onto consoles & PC with redesigned controls, loads of content, up-to-four player local multiplayer awesomeness (co-op & versus) and with enhanced Full-HD visuals. It's pretty clear that Badland was made for bite-size play sessions on mobile devices. Up to four friends can play a local multiplayer mode that sees players vying to outlast one another, potentially pushing each other into objects and traps. Groups of cloned Clonys are controlled as one, with each input action moving all members. Sometimes one or more of these clones must be sacrificed by, say, traversing dead-end passages and performing an action that opens the way for the rest of the group. This also involves deciding whether to pick up transformative power-ups along the way, including items that can grow Clony in size, shrink him, or - true to his name - clone him into multiple entities. That means players need to pay attention to obstacles as they approach, working out how best to approach them. He has to be quick about it the screen never stops moving from left to right, so if Clony gets stuck and the left side engulfs him, it's game over. Clony's journey is set in a forest filled with obstacles and traps that he must avoid by flapping his stubby little wings to give himself just the right amount of lift to fly through narrow passages. Players take control of a creature named Clony in BADLAND: GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION, the console version of an award-winning mobile side-scrolling adventure. The health effects from ventilation have been studied only to a limited extent, but there is some indication that a minimum total air flow rate of 4 l/s pers should always be available for health reasons. So, in most cases, the regulatory requirements for ventilation flow rates in residential buildings are based on a humidity balance of the building. The criteria for IAQ in EN 15251 are mainly based on studies of perceived air quality in offices where criteria for the IAQ in residential buildings are less studied. where people frequently enter and leave the rooms, it is reasonable to assume that people are unadapted. For office buildings, restaurants, shops etc. EN 15251 includes examples of airflow rates for adapted and unadapted persons.įor residential buildings, it is reasonable to assume that people are adapted to the indoor air and that air flow rates can be determined accordingly – or according to the health based approach. Using criteria for perceived air quality for unadapted persons will lead to the highest ventilation flow rate – often twice as much or more as for adapted persons.
Technology Partners provide hardware, connectivity services, or software solutions that are either hosted on or integrated with the AWS Cloud. This service will be added to the startup’s existing professional services. Consulting Partners help customers of all types and sizes design, architect, build, migrate, and manage their workloads and applications on AWS. However, proof that AWS is the future is that more and more companies are migrating to AWS every single year and looking to join the AWS Partner Network (APN).īy joining the AWS Partner Network (APN) you can become an APN Consulting Partner or APN Technology Partner. There are so many features of AWS that it will take too long to get into. For example, if a startup needs to scale rapidly, they don’t have to spend time purchasing servers to grow. In addition, AWS offers a lot more freedom because Amazon has so many resources for any situation. Companies save so much money, money that can be best spent elsewhere. The main reason I just mentioned is the cost. There are many reasons for not just startups but companies to move their IT infrastructure to AWS. Now they have the option to just rent them on AWS. In the past, startups had to spend money on high-priced computers and servers which can cost a startup at least $100,000. In the case of AWS, this computer is owned by Amazon. When you think of the cloud, basically think of it as someone else’s computer. Why Startups in Korea Should Join the AWS Partner Network If you follow my step-by-step guide you will be able to pass the test on your first try. In addition, if you fail you will only get 2 more chances, or else you will have to wait a year to take it again. The test costs around $200 so it is important you are ready. Therefore if you can study for around 3 hours a day for a month straight, you can be ready to take the test in a month. In order to do that you will need to put in at least 100 hours. However, you need to get at least 72% on the exam. The good news is that you don’t have to ace the test. The AWS Certified Solutions Architect exam is a very hard test. After getting your AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification you should be able to get the AWS Solutions Architect Professional with a year’s worth of experience going in-depth into the top AWS services.Ī little warning before I give you the guide. The average pay in the United States is great ( AWS Solutions Architect Average Salary $155,000/year) and what is better is that there are even more specialty certifications you can add on to increase your salary in the future. However, there are companies all around the world that are looking for Cloud Architects and if you ever plan on leaving Korea, you should have no issues finding a job. Still, there are many Cloud Consulting Companies in Korea and they are always on the lookout for certified AWS solutions architects, but they would need to speak Korean. Therefore if you plan on working in Korea as an AWS Solutions Architect, you might have to wait a year or two before the demand reaches the same level as it does in the US/UK. However, the demand in South Korea is not nearly as high as in the US or UK because South Korea is a few years behind in regards to companies migrating to the cloud. There are also great SaaS Startups in Korea looking for AWS Solutions Architects. Therefore once you get your certification you will become very attractive for these consulting companies that are either already in partnership with AWS or wanting to become a partner. For consulting companies to become an AWS Partner there are requirements for those companies to hire a certain amount of certified AWS solutions architects. There are Select Partners, Advanced Partners, and Premier Partners. Amazon has hundreds of consulting partners for AWS. While Google and Microsoft are coming up, Amazon reigns supreme. Why Become an AWS Cloud Engineer/Solutions Architect?Īmazon is the leader in the public cloud market. In this article, I will give you a step-by-step guide so you can be on your way to getting the AWS Solutions Architect – Associate Certification. The COVID-19 outbreak in Korea gave me a few months to study and pass the AWS Solutions Architect exam. One of the top certifications for cloud engineers is the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Certification. Becoming a cloud engineer/cloud solutions architect is not easy but it is in high demand. It is not coding that will soon get turned over to AI. If you are going to start anywhere it is a pretty safe bet to start with AWS. AWS is the biggest cloud player out there. If you are a tech startup in Korea or an entrepreneur in IT then you must learn the cloud. There are many startups in Korea that are struggling and the future is unknown. What the COVID-19 outbreak has taught us is that most jobs are just not safe. Raising the priority to above normal and high didn’t make much difference – maybe even worse on high. Restricting it to only 1 or 2 cores didn’t make any noticeable difference (I’m 99.9% sure it can only use a single core, anyway). I’ve tried playing with the priority and affinity. It ran much better when I only had an i5 and a 1GB Radeon 6950 video card. No flags for me.ĭoes anyone know how to make it run smoothly on a fast machine on Windows 7? I’ve got an i7 overclocked to run at 4.1Ghz, and 4GB RX 580 video card. Also, I use Microsoft Security Essentials, and Spy Bot. Good luck to everybody who loves this game. My resolution is set at 1600×1200, 32bit. It is true that the Aero on Windows 7 can interfere with things, especially wallpaper and screen savers. I don’t want to ever lose this game again. I’m going to copy the file to another flash drive just in case this page gets taken down. I hope this stays available to all those who want it and find it. I can play these by myself, try to beat my own score. I’m 56, a female and this is the only game I like to play other than Keno & Super 8 Keno. They are ICONS now, basically a thing of the past unless you have a lot of money to buy one. Thank you so much for making it the easiest install ever!. That gave me the idea to search using that name. I did see the Pro Works flipper.cad file. I tried to recover it from the old.win file which was unsuccessful. I had since upgraded that computer to Win 7. It worked also, but somehow got deleted and the flash drive got stolen with all my others. One fell in my lap one day so I thought I would copy the game to a flash drive. Everybody I knew had upgraded to Vista or Windows 7. I have looked and looked since XP was no longer available. Thanks, not only for putting this out there, but for making it so easy even a near-computer-illiterate like me can do it. It just went straight to Start, so I dragged it to Games. Now, I try a vague search on a whim, find this site, and it’s so easy(although I think I clicked the wrong thing–sorta–since I never got Step 2. I was resigned to Free Cell as my only choice when I wanted to zone out for a bit. I spent years wondering if there was something like it, but not knowing where to look, etc. When I realized the W7 they made me use to do so no longer had the game, I was severely bummed. Now, I’m still on that awful virtual desktop, but telecommuting from home. Some years ago, the head office made us all work on a crappy Citrix virtual desktop(w/almost all customizing features removed, ’cause, you know–we’re all children who’ll burn the place down if we’re allowed to pick our own color scheme they even took away the clock in the taskbar, saying, “What do they need that for?”). Not having a pc at home, I too spent countless hours being paid on 3rd shift to get really good at Space Cadet. Good Lord, I really thought, being something of a Luddite, that I was probably the only one playing what I assumed everyone else thought was “the lame pinball game that Windows stuck in there as a selling point to non-gamers & parents”. |
